Tipula is een zeer groot insectengeslacht uit de familie van de langpootmuggen (Tipulidae). Wereldwijd zijn er meer dan 1000 soorten, waarvan 56[1] in Nederland voorkomen.[2]

Alle soorten hebben lange, fragiele poten.
