Tomoderus is een geslacht van kevers uit de familie snoerhalskevers (Anthicidae). De wetenschappelijke naam van dit geslacht is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1849 door F. de la Ferté-Sénectère.[1]
Het zijn vrij forsgebouwde, kleine kevers met een convex lichaam en een ingesnoerd halsschild of pronotum dat twee lobben vertoont.
Dit geslacht komt volgens de la Ferté-Sénectère over de hele wereld voor, "zelfs in Nieuw-Holland" (Nouvelle-Hollande). Er zijn een driehonderdtal Tomoderussoorten beschreven.[2]
