Work Channel

De Work Channel is een inham in het zuidwesten van Brits-Columbia in Canada.

Geografie

De inham heeft noordwest-zuidoost een lengte van ongeveer 49 kilometer en een breedte van tussen de 350 en 3000 meter. De inham snijdt in zuidoostelijke richting in op het vasteland van Canada, met in het zuidwesten de Tsimpsean Peninsula van het vasteland. In het noordwesten mondt de inham uit in de Portland Inlet.

De inham ligt in de mariene ecoregio Noord-Amerikaans Pacifisch Fjordland.

Geschiedenis

Het werd rond 1837 vernoemd door officieren van de Hudson's Bay Company naar John Work, geboren als John Wark. Het werd voor het eerst in kaart gebracht in 1793 door James Johnstone en Robert Barrie, twee officieren van George Vancouver tijdens zijn expeditie van 1791-1795.
