Aravindh Chithambaram (ur. 11 września 1999 w Maduraj[1]) – indyjski arcymistrz szachowy, multimedalista Mistrzostw Indii juniorów w szachach.

Kariera szachowa

Aravindh Chithambaram nauczył się grać w szachy w wieku siedmiu lat od swojego dziadka[2]. Od 2011 roku, kiedy to zaczął trenować pod okiem arcymistrza Ramachandrana Ramesha, zwyciężył co najmniej trzykrotnie w szachowych Mistrzostwach Indii juniorów (do lat 13 w 2011[3], do lat 15 w 2014[4] oraz do lat 19 w 2015, kiedy to sam miał piętnaście lat[5]). Ponadto, na Mistrzostwach Świata juniorów do lat 14 rozgrywanych w 2012 w słoweńskim Mariborze, zajął drugie miejsce[6], a dwa lata później powtórzył ten wyczyn, tym razem w zawodach do lat 16[7]. W kwietniu 2015 Międzynarodowa Federacja Szachowa przyznała Chithambaramowi tytuł arcymistrza[8]. W latach 2018–2019 dwukrotnie został Mistrzem Indii w szachach klasycznych[9].

Do jego pozostałych sukcesów w elitarnych turniejach szachowych można zaliczyć zwycięstwo w Praskim Festiwalu Szachowym 2025 (ang. Prague International Chess Festival 2025) oraz w 6. Memoriale Stepana Awagiana[10][11], a także zajęcie wraz z drużyną SC Viernheim pierwszego miejsca w niemieckiej Bundeslidze w sezonie 2025/2026[12].

Swój najwyższy ranking szachowy w karierze osiągnął w kwietniu 2025 – 2749, jednocześnie zajmując 11. miejsce na świecie i 4. wśród szachistów z Indii[13].
