Permutation – trzeci album Amona Tobina i drugi wydany pod jego własnym imieniem i nazwiskiem. Został wydany w 1998 roku, zaledwie rok po albumie Bricolage. Album ten był dla niego krokiem milowym jeśli chodzi o różnorodność i paletę dźwięków, jak i sukcesem, przez co Tobin zaczął występować na dużych festiwalach.

W utworach Amon Tobin nawiązuje do twórczości Davida Lyncha. "Like Regular Chickens" zawiera fragmenty dialogów z filmu Głowa do wycierania (Eraserhead). Tytuł utworu "People Like Frank" jest fragmentem dialogu z filmu Blue Velvet.
