Toasting – rytmiczna, często improwizowana, melorecytacja na tle utworu z gatunku ska, rocksteady, ragga, jungle lub reggae. Zastosowany po raz pierwszy w latach sześćdziesiątych XX wieku przez DJ-ów jamajskich sound systemów. Uważa się, że jamajscy emigranci uprawiający toasting dali początek gatunkowi hip-hop.
