WireGuard – protokół komunikacyjny oraz oprogramowanie do obsługi połączeń VPN[1]. Został zaprojektowany jako bardziej wydajna, bezpieczniejsza i łatwiejsza w użyciu alternatywa dla istniejących protokołów tunelowania, takich jak IPsec i OpenVPN[2].

Protokół WireGuard przesyła ruch za pośrednictwem UDP[3]. Stanowi implementację Noise Protocol Framework[2].

Projekt został zainicjowany w 2015 roku przez Jasona Donenfelda[4]. Po raz pierwszy został wydany w 2016 roku[5].
