Aidophus (лат.) — род пластинчатоусых жуков из трибы Aphodiini (Aphodiinae).

Описание

Жуки овальной формы длиной 3,0—5,0 мм. Тело субцилиндрическое, от светло-коричневого до тёмно-светло-коричневого цвета. Голова, диск переднеспинки и надкрылья с тёмным пятном различной степени развития; клипеус волнистый или с выемкой; щёки округлые с отчётливыми светлыми и длинными щетинками. Вершинные шипы голеней (мезо- и метатибий) расположены близко друг к другу, не позволяя первому членику лапки сочленяться между ними. Половой диморфизм проявляется в поперечном расположении головы и вершинного шипа переднеспинки у самцов; они могут быть ланцетными, латерально плоскими и загнутыми вниз крючковидными или усечёнными. Брюшко самцов некоторых видов имеет срединную ямку[1].

Распространение

Встречаются в нескольких странах неарктического и неотропического регионов, включая мексиканскую переходную зону[1].
