Merocryptus (лат.) — род морских крабов из семейства Leucosiidae инфраотряда Eubrachyura (Heterotremata). Известно около 10 видов. Обитают на континентальных шельфах и склонах на глубинах от 40 до 668 м в умеренной климатической зоне Северной Атлантики, тропической восточной Атлантике, умеренной климатической зоне Северного Тихого океана, западной и центральной частях Индо-Тихоокеанского региона и умеренной климатической зоне Австралазии[1].
Описание
Карапакс имеет длину до 14 мм, примерно в один-полтора раза шире и треугольную или ромбовидную форму. Дорсальная поверхность имеет крупный, косой или поперечный эпибранхиальный гребень, расходящийся кзади. Передний боковой край вооружён одним или двумя тупыми треугольными зубцами. Эпибранхиальный край выступает в виде лопасти или зубца. Эндостом выходит за пределы приточного канала жаберной камеры. Глазница открыта медиально, а базальный сегмент антенны подвижен. Пальцы клешней примерно в 1,6 раза длиннее проподуса и имеют зазубренные режущие кромки. У самцов третий-шестой сомиты плеона сращены. Первый гоноподий равномерно сужается к острию[1].
