Probolus (лат.) — род наездников-ихневмонид трибы Platylabini из подсемейства Ichneumoninae (Ichneumonidae). Известно около 10 видов из Голарктики.

Описание

Наездники длиной более 1 см (от 10 до 18 мм)[3]. Этот род можно отличить от других родов Ichneumoninae по следующей комбинации признаков: голова и мезосома с довольно длинными волосками; клипеус слегка выпуклый; проподеум густо морщинистый, с нечётко очерченными участками; первый тергит метасомы с срединным горбом между дыхальцами; петиоль первого тергита не уплощённый; срединная область постпетиоля нечёткая; гастроцелус узкий и неглубокий, или почти отсутствует, а тиридий отсутствует; стерниты 3-6 полностью склеротизированы (без срединной мембранной области); вершина метасомы амблипиговая; тергиты 7 и 8 часто укорочены[2].

Паразитоиды гусениц бабочек. Два вида Probolus (culpatorius и sachalinensis) имеют зарегистрированных хозяев: Noctuidae (9 видов), Erebidae (4 вида), Nymphalidae (2 вида) и Sphingidae (1 вид)[3].

Классификация

Известно около 10 видов[4]. Род был впервые выделен в 1845 году бельгийским энтомологом Константином Весмэлем[1]. Ранее род включали в Ichneumonini, а затем он был отнесён к трибе Platylabini. Морфологически Probolus не является типичным представителем Platylabini. Хотя петиоль широкий и уплощённый, а мандибула довольно тонкая для ихневмонина такого размера, это единственные признаки, указывающие на родство с Platylabini. Клипеус большой и лишь слабо выпуклый, а жгутик усика самки не тонкий и не сужающийся. В целом, виды этого рода крупные (более 10 мм в длину) и довольно коренастые. Бертумье (Berthoumieu 1904[5]) был первым, кто включил его в состав Platylabini, но последующие авторы обычно помещали его в Ichneumonini (Schmiedeknecht, 1902[6]; Heinrich 1961[7]). Таунс (Townes 1944[8]) включил его в трибу Eurylabini, но позже поместил в Ichneumonini (Joppini sensu Townes). Хайнрих (Heinrich 1962a[9]) подробно остановился на родственных связях рода с Eurylabus, отметив, с одной стороны, сходство конвергентное, а с другой — возможно, связь между Ichneumonini и Eurylabini.
