Бледно-синяя Земля служит фоном астронавту Майклу Герхардту, который связан с рукой робота шаттла Индевор во время выхода в открытый космос миссии STS-69 в 1995. В отличие от более ранних выходов астронавтов в космос, Герхардт использовал контрольную таблицу на электронной манжете, — прототип, разработанный для Международной космической станции.
