Использование

В языке лакота обозначает звук [χ][1], в языках ассинибойн и финский кало — [x][2][3]

Также используется в Уральском фонетическом алфавите для обозначения «глухого ларингального спиранта» (вероятно, имеется ввиду [ħ])[4].
