Bioinformatika

Bioinformatika është një fushë ndërdisiplinore që zhvillon metoda dhe mjete softuerike për të kuptuar të dhënat biologjike. Si një fushë ndërdisiplinore e shkencës, bioinformatika kombinon shkencat kompjuterike, statistikat, matematikën dhe inxhinierinë për të analizuar dhe interpretuar të dhënat biologjike.

Historia

Historikisht, termi bioinformatikë ose en:bioinformatics nuk ka pasur domethënien e njëjtë me atë që është sot. Paulien Hogeweg dhe Ben Hesper e shpikur atë në vitin 1970 për t'iu referuar studimit të proceseve të informacionit në sistemet biotike[1][2][3].
