Botanika
Botanika (e njohur ndryshe edhe si shkenca e bimëve apo edhe si biologjia bimore) është degë shkencore që merret me jetën e bimëve dhe është nëndegë e biologjisë. Botanisti, në anën tjetër, është shkencëtari i cili është i specializuar në këtë lëmi studimi. Termi “botanikë” rrjedh prej greqishtes së vjetër “botane” që është “barë” dhe që rrjedh prej një fjale tjetër greke “boskein” që është “të ushqyerit”. Në mënyrë tradicionale, botanika në vete përfshinë edhe kërpudhat dhe algat, e që edhe është një prej sferave të interesit të Kongresit Ndërkombëtar të Botanikës. Sot, botanistët studiojnë diku mbi 400.000 lloje organizmash të gjallë, prej të cilave 260.000 janë lloje bimësh vaskulare ndërsa diku rreth 248.000 janë bimë janë me lule.
