Jitte

Jitte (Japonisht: 十手, “Dhjetë duar”) është një armë e specializuar që u përdorë nga policia gjatë periudhës Edo.[1][2]

Historia

Në Japoninë feudale, ishte një krim i dënueshëm me vdekje për të sjellë një shpatë në pallatin e shōgun. Ky ligj zbatohet pothuajse për të gjithë, përfshirë rojet e pallatit. Për shkak të këtij ndalimi, disa armë pa-thikë ishin mbajtur nga rojet e pallatit. Jitte u tregua veçanërisht efektive dhe evoluar për t'u bërë simbol i pozicionit të lartësuar të rojes së pallatit.[3]

Në periudhën Edo, jitte ishte një zëvendësim për një distinktiv, dhe ai përfaqësonte dikë në biznesin zyrtar. Ajo u mbajt nga të gjitha nivelet e oficerëve të policisë, duke përfshirë zyrtarët e lartë të policisë samurai dhe zyrtarët e zbatimit të ligjit të samurai në nivel të ulët (të quajtur okappiki ose doshin).[4][5] Zyrtarë të tjerë të rangut të lartë samurai mbanin një jite si një simbol të zyrës,[6] duke përfshirë inspektorët e hotelit, orizit dhe grurit (aratame).[7][8] Jitte është subjekt i artit ushtarak japonez të jittejutsu.[9]
