Lidia

Lidia ishte një mbretëri e epokës së hekurit në Azinë e vogël perëndimore (Turqi). Në shkallën e saj më të gjere mbretëria e Lidisë përfshinte mbarë Anadollinë perëndimore. Më vonë ajo u bë provincë e perandorisë persiane me Sard si kryeqytet. Guvernatori i parë i saj quhej Tabali, i emëruar nga Kiri i Madh.

Edhe më vonë Lidia u bë provincë romake. Në shek. VII u stampuan monedhat e para. Herodoti mendoi se etruskët ishin me prejardhje lidiane. Gjuha lidiane ishte e afërt me gjuhën hitase. Në kohët biblike Lidia ishte i njohur për arkëtarët.

Lidinë e sunduan tri dinasti: Atyadët (1300) – Heraklidët (Tylonidët) (deri në 687 para .K) Sipas Herodotit herklidët sunduan nëpër 22 gjenerata (1185 BC, për 505 vjet). Alyattesi ishte mbret i Lidisë më 776. Biri i tij, Kresi (560-546), ishte i njohur për pasuritë e tij shumë të mëdha. Mbretin e fundit e vrau Gygesi i cili trashëgoi fronin. Disa mendojnë se Gygesi ishte Gogu i Biblës, Më 546 Kresin e mundën persianët nën komandën e Kirit dhe perandoria lidiane mori fund.
