Posta është një sistem organizacional i cili në bazë si funksion ka mbledhjen e letrave (të formateve dhe peshave të ndryshme) nga qendra të caktuara (të cilat janë të vendosura nga vetë posta) dhe shpërndarja e tyre gjer tek caku i fundit - individi ose instituti përkatës.
- Posta sot nuk ka vetëm rolin e mbledhjes dhe shpërndarjes së letrave, por kryen një sërë funksionesh financiare dhe organizative.
