Pushtimi
Pushtimi[1] është akti i nënshtrimit ushtarak të një armiku me forcën e armëve.
Historia ushtarake ofron shumë shembuj të pushtimit: pushtimi romak i Britanisë, pushtimi Mauryan i Afganistanit dhe i zonave të gjera të nënkontinentit Indian, pushtimi spanjoll i Perandorisë Aztec dhe pushtimet e ndryshme myslimane, për të përmendur vetëm disa.
Pushtimi norman i Anglisë jep një shembull: ai u ndërtua mbi lidhjet kulturore, çoi në nënshtrimin e Mbretërisë së Anglisë nën kontrollin norman dhe solli Uilliam Pushtuesin në fronin anglez në 1066.
Pushtimi mund të lidhet në disa mënyra me kolonializmin. Anglia, për shembull, përjetoi faza dhe zona të kolonizimit dhe pushtimit anglo-sakson, viking dhe franko-norman.
