Socket

Socket është një plakëz plastike e vendosur në motherboard mbi të cilen vendoset procesori. Njëkosisht përmes socket bëhet edhe furnizimi me rrymë i procesorit. Dy prodhuesit me të mëdhenjë të procesoreve Intel dhe AMD kanë zhvilluar socketet në mënyrë të vete edhe pse kanë ngjajshmëri të madhe një socket i destinuar për pentium nuk pranon një procesor të AMD dhe anasjelltas. Shpeshëhërë zhvillimi i procesoreve të rinjshoqërohet me socket të ri. Numri pas fjales socket paraqet se ne sa pika është i lidhur procesori per socket një tabel e vogël për socket dhe procesorin të cilin mund ta vendosim në te.
