Statika
Statika është degë e mekanikës e cila merret me studimin e trupave në gjendje ekuilibri. Ajo i studion forcat apo trupat që gjenden në ekuilibër (d.m.th. në kushte qetësie) pa vepruar forcat. Statika merret me studimin e ekuilibrit, pra ajo i studion edhe llojet e ekuilibrit. Llojet e ekuilibrit janë: ekuilibri stabil, ekuilibri labil, dhe ekuilibri indiferent.
Ekuilibri labil është kur trupin nëse e nxjerrim nga pozita ekuilibruese nuk kthehet më në ekuilibër d.m.th., është jo i qëndrueshëm. Në këtë rast energjia potenciale është maksimale. Ekuilibri stabil është kur trupin që e nxjerrim nga pozita ekuilibruese ai kthehet prapë në ekuilibër d.m.th., është i qëndrueshëm. Këtu energjia potenciale është minimale. Kurse ekuilibri indiferent është kur trupi mbështetet në pozitën e tij ekuilibruese. Energjia potenciale në këtë rast është konstante.
