Straboni (ose Strabonis) që jetoi gjatë viteve 63 p.e.s. - 20, ishte gjeograf dhe historian i Greqisë së lashtë.

Biografia

Straboni lindi në Amasia të Pontit (Turqia e Sotme) diku rreth vitit 63 para e. sonë dhe vdiq rreth vitit 20 të e. sonë. Përpos udhëtimeve të shumta që bëri nëpër pjesët e perandorisë romake si Greqi, Azi, Itali dhe Egjipt, ai kaloi edhe një pjesë të jetës në Romë. Straboni, duke u nisur nga vrojtimet e tija personale nga udhëtimet dhe duke u mbështetur në veprat e autorëve të ndryshëm antik Artemidori, Eratosthenit, Apollodorit, etj. shkroi veprën "geographica" (Gjeografia) e cila përbëhet nga 17 libra. Strabosi disi vazhdon veprën e Polibit që mbaron në vitin 144, dhe ai përshkruan ngjarjet historike deri në kohën e luftës civile. Nga vepra historike kanë mbetë të ruajtura vetëm disa fragmente.
