Subashi

Subashi ka qenë funksionar ushtarak osman, komandant në një kaza, qytet ose nahije. Mbante rendin e qetësinë aty ku kryente detyrën dhe në kohë lufte merrte pjesë me repartin e tij në veprime luftarake. Më 1438 Skënderbeu ishte subash i vilajetit të Krujës. Në shek. XV subashi varej nga sanxhakbeu. Në shek. XVI subashët u shndërruan në funksionarë administrativë, kryesisht nëpër feudet ushtarake dhe në çifligje, si përfaqësues të pronarëve të tyre. Subashë të tillë janë të përmendur për grabitjet e mëdha të të ardhurave mbi sasinë e caktuar të detyrimeve.

Më pas pati kuptimin "kryetar i fshatit", saktësisht: mbikëqyrës i ujit. Ky titull, vonë iu dha edhe fshatarëve të pasur të fushës, kryesisht në Myzeqe.[1]
