Aril

U organskoj hemiji, aril se odnosi na funkcionalne grupe ili supstituente izvedene iz aromatičnog prstena, npr. fenil, naftil, tienil, indolil, etc.[1] „Aril“ se koristi radi skraćivanja imena ili generalizacije, i „Ar“ označava aril grupu u hemijskim strukturnim dijagramima.[2][3]
Fenil je jednostavna aril grupa, C6H5, izvedena iz benzena. Tolil grupa, CH3C6H4, je izvedena iz toluena (metilbenzena). Ksilil grupa, (CH3)2C6H3, je izvedena iz ksilena (dimetilbenzena), dok je nafthil grupa, C10H7, izvedena iz naftalena.
Arilacija je hemijski proces u kome se aril grupa vezuje za supstrat.
