Cryptailurus (Криптаилурус — „скривена мачка”) је изумрли род мачколиких звијери из изумрле породице Palaeogalidae који је у периоду средњег Миоцена настањивао подручје Сјеверне Америке.[1][2]

Етимологија назива

Назив овог рода води поријекло од:

  • старогрчке ријечи криптос (стгрч. κρυπτός), која значи скривено,
  • и старогрчке ријечи аилоурос (стгрч. αἴλουρος), која значи мачка.
