Ang mani o peanut (Arachis hypogaea) ay isang uri ng halaman na karaniwang inaakalang nasa pamilyang Fabaceae na likas sa Timog Amerika, Mehiko at Gitnang Amerika. [1]

Ang genus na Arachis ay naglalaman ng 81 espesye na karamihan ay mga diploid (2n = 2x = 20). Ang mga ebidensiyang henetiko, cytohenetiko, pilogeograpiko at molekular ay nagpapakitang ang hybridisasyon sa pagitan ng mga diploid na A. duranensis (AA genome) at A. ipaensis (BB) ay lumikha ng allotetraploid na A. hypogaea (AABB, 2n = 4x = 40).Ang henomiko in situ ay nagmumungkahing ang A. monticola ang malapit na ligaw na ninuno ng A. hypogaea.[2]
