Popeye the Sailor Meets Sindbad the Sailor

Si Popeye the Sailor (literal sa Tagalog: "Popeye, ang mandaragat") ay isang kathang-isip na karakter sa kartun na nilikha ni Elzie Crisler Segar.[1][2][3][4] Unang lumabas ang karakter sa pang-araw-araw na istrip ng komiks na Thimble Theatre noong Enero 17, 1929, at naging isang titulong istrip na Popeye noong mga taon na naglaon. Lumabas din si Popeye sa pelikula at animasyong pantelebisyon.[3]

Unang lumabas si Popeye sa istrip na Thimble Theatre ni Segar noong ikasampung taon nito, ngunit ang isang-matang (kaliwa) mandaragat ay naging pangunahing tuon ng isa sa mga sikat na pagmamay-ari ng King Features noong dekada 1930. Pagkatapos mamatay ni Segar noong 1938, ipinagpatuloy ng ilang manunulat at tagaguhit ang Thimble Theatre, isa na dito ang katulong ni Segar na si Bud Sagendorf. Patuloy na lumabas ang istrip sa unang-takbong yugto sa edisyon nito tuwing Linggo, na sinulat at ginuhit ni Hy Eisman. Ang mga pang-araw-araw na istrip ay muling paglilimbag ng lumang kuwento ni Sagendorf.[3]
