Ang Volano ay isang comune (komuna o munisipalidad) sa Lalawigang Awtonomo ng Trento, rehiyon ng Trentino-Alto Adigio, hilagang-silangang Italya, na matatagpuan mga 15 kilometro (9 mi) timog ng Trento. Noong Disyembre 31, 2004, mayroon itong populasyon na 2,851 at may lawak na 10.8 kilometro kuwadrado (4.2 mi kuw).[3]
May hangganan ang Volano sa mga sumusunod na munisipalidad: Calliano, Pomarolo, Nomi, at Rovereto.
Kasaysayan
Marahil ay nagmula ang pangalan sa Latin na abellana (abelyana), at malamang na tumutukoy sa mga hazelnut na tumubo sa lugar noong panahong iyon. Ayon sa isa pang teorya - gaano man kaunti ang kinikilala - ang pangalan ay nagmula sa Latin na patronymics na Avolius, Bolanius, o Volius.
Ang unang pagbanggit ng Volano ay ni Paolo Diacono, sa "Historia Longobardorum", noong 590 AD. Pagkatapos ay may mga dokumentong itinayo noong katapusan ng taong 1100 kung saan ang bayan ay tinawag na Avolano o Avolani, kaya nagpapatunay sa unang teorya sa pinagmulan ng pangalan.
