Con Diocleaian dux xe divegnuo el titolo ufisiale del comandante militare de le provinse, distinto dal governator sivile. El titolo xe restà intel primitivo Inpero Bizantin pa i comandanti de le provinse e dal 6° sec. pa i governadori dei temi.
