El Sahel xe na rejon de l'Africa del nord a sud del deserto del Sahara. I paexi che forma el Sahel xe: Mali, Nizer, Chad. Fa parte del Sahel anca le rejoni confinanti de la Mauritania, Burkina Faso, Senegal e la rejon del Darfur in Sudan. El Sahel xe na rejon semi-desertica, con poca piova. I tereni ie boni par la coltivazion del coton, dei bagigi, e a l'alevamento de bestie domestiche. El nome Sahel vien da l'arabo (sahil) e vol dir riva del mar. Ne la lengoa comun, Sahel l'era el nome de varie zone de la costa Africana, e anca el nome de la diresion nord (la diresion par rivar al mar).
