Pyronotanthias là một chi cá biển thuộc họ Anthiadidae. Chi này được lập bởi Anthony C. Gill vào năm 2022. Dựa theo quan hệ phát sinh loài, một số loài trong chi Pseudanthias đã được chuyển sang chi Pyronotanthias.[2]

Từ nguyên

Tên chi là sự kết hợp của ba âm tiết trong tiếng Hy Lạp cổ đại: pûr (πῦρ; "lửa"), nôtos (νῶτος; "lưng") và Anthias, tên gọi của một chi khác trong họ Anthiadidae, hàm ý đề cập đến các đốm, sọc đỏ đặc trưng ở cuống đuôi trên và bên dưới phần sau của vây lưng đối với các loài trong chi này.[3]

Hình thái chung

Các loài thuộc chi Pyronotanthias có vệt màu cam tươi đến đỏ hoặc một hàng các đốm đỏ bên dưới vây lưng mềm và dọc theo rìa trên của cuống đuôi. Mặc dù các sọc, đốm này không phải lúc nào cũng rõ ràng ở P. bimarginatus, P. parvirostris, P. smithvanizi và P. unimarginatus, nhưng có một sọc cam hoặc đỏ mảnh hoặc mờ vẫn hiện diện ở một vài cá thể của 4 loài này (đặc biệt dễ nhìn thấy khi chúng còn sống).[2]
