VJ (viết tắt của cụm từ tiếng Anh video jockey hay veejay) là một phát thanh viên chuyên giới thiệu các video âm nhạc và những buổi trình diễn trực tiếp trên sóng các kênh truyền hình âm nhạc thương mại như MTV, VH1, MuchMusic, Channel V và YanTV.

Nguồn gốc

Cụm từ "video jockey" trong tiếng Anh bắt nguồn từ thuật ngữ "disk jockey", "DJ" ("deejay") khi được dùng trên sóng phát thanh. Kênh truyền hình MTV của Mỹ đã góp phần phổ biến cụm từ này kể từ thập niên 1980 (xem Danh sách các VJ của MTV). Các nhà sáng lập MTV nảy ra ý tưởng về những người dẫn chương trình VJ của họ từ việc học hỏi câu lạc bộ đêm của Merrill Aldighieri.[1]
