CD Octantis (CD Oct / WD 2159-754)[1] ye una nana blanca de magnitú aparente +15,03 encuadrada na constelación de Octans. Magar el so paralax nun foi midida, la so distancia respeutu al Sistema Solar —46 ± 5 años lluz— ye conocida por fotometría.[2]

CD Octantis tien tipu espectral DA5.6, siendo'l hidróxenu l'elementu predominante na so atmósfera. La temperatura efectivo d'esti remanente estelar asitiar ente 8911 y 9040 K.[2][3] Como les nanes blanques nun xeneren enerxía por fusión nuclear, sinón que radien al esterior l'escesu de calor a un ritmu constante, col tiempu la so temperatura superficial va baxando; CD Octantis tien una edá envalorada —como remanente estelar— de 2760 millones d'años.[4] Un aspeutu notable de CD Octantis ye la so elevada masa, envalorándose ésta en 1,17 ± 0,03 mases solares —considerando que ye una nana blanca de carbonu-oxíxenu—, anque podría tener 1,14 mases solares si'l so interior ta formáu por oxíxenu-neón. Arriendes d'ello, ye una nana blanca «ultramasiva», condición que ta sofitada pol so peculiar velocidá radial.[5] La so masa ye cimera a la de Siriu B nun 20%.

CD Octantis ta catalogada como variable pulsante de tipu ZZ Ceti nel General Catalogue of Variable Stars (GCVS), siendo la variación de rellumu rexistrada de 0,10 magnitúes.[6]
