Ceu yera un titán fíu d'Uranu y Gaia y, poro, ye consideráu un titán de primer xeneración. Casóse cola so hermana, la titánida Febe, con quien exendró a Leto y Asteria. Por ello tamién yera "güelu" de los dioses Apolu y Artemisa.
