L'escudu d'armes de Chad foi adoptáu en 1970. El centru del escudu ye un campu chevronáu d'oru y azul. El blasón ye sosteníu por dos figures: un arruí y un lleón rampantes y d'oru cargaos con una punta de gules. L'escudo ta surmontáu por una figura de gules que representa al sol. Na parte d'abaxu del escudu apaecen la Orde Nacional del Chad, la condecoración más importante del país y, escritu nuna cinta, el llema nacional: “Unité, Travail, Progrès” (Xunidá, Trabayu, Progresu).

El sol de gules simboliza l'entamu d'un nuevu tiempu pal país. La cabra representa a la zona norte del país y el lleón al sur. El color azul simboliza l'agua del Llagu Chad.
