Isère (38) (en francoprovenzal Isera, n'occitanu Isèra,) ye un departamentu francés asitiáu na rexón d'Auvernia-Ródanu-Alpes. Los sos habitantes llámense (en francés) isérois.

El nome del departamentu provién del ríu Isère, afluente de la vera izquierda del Ródanu. El términu paez ser que provién del célticu Isar, ye dicir «fierro», mineral que debió ensin dulda ser abondosu nes veres del Isère na dómina protohistórica.

Tien uan población de 1 298 990 habitantes (1 xineru 2023)[1][2] y la so prefeutura ye Grenoble.
