W Bootis (W Boo / 34 Bootis / HD 129712 / HR 5490) ye una estrella variable na constelación de Boötes, el pastor, de magnitú aparente +4,83. Alcuéntrase aproximao a 890 años lluz del Sistema Solar.

W Bootis ye una xigante colorada de tipu espectral M3III con una temperatura efectivo de 3760 K. La so lluminosidá, incluyendo la lluz infrarroxo emitida, ye 2990 vegaes mayor que la del Sol. El so radiu ye 130 vegaes más grande que'l radiu solar, equivalente a 0,60 UA. Con una edá de 100 millones d'años, W Bootis nació como una estrella azul de tipu B4 —similar a como pueda ser güei λ Crucis— hai unos 100 millones d'años; como estrella xigante nun se sabe si ta aumentando'l so rellumu per vegada primera con un nucleu inerte d'heliu o si tar faciendo per segunda vegada con un nucleu inerte de carbonu y oxíxenu.

W Bootis ta clasificada como una estrella variable semirregular con una variación nel so rellumu ente magnitú +4,73 y +5,40, con un inciertu periodu de 30 o 450 díes. Estudios recién indiquen que la variación puede ser d'apenes unes centésimes de magnitú con un periodu principal de 35,2 díes.
