Samtens is een gemeente in de Duitse deelstaat Mecklenburg-Voor-Pommeren. De gemeente maakt deel uit van de Landkreis Vorpommern-Rügen. Samtens telt 1.915 inwoners.[1]
Geografie
Samtens ligt circa 20 kilometer noordoostelijk van Stralsund en circa 10 kilometer zuidwestelijk van Bergen auf Rügen. De Bundesstraße 96 loopt net als de doorgaande weg Stralsund-Sassnitz door de gemeente.
Geschiedenis
Samtens wordt voor het eerst in 1318 genoemd als "Samtensze". De plaatsnaam is van Slavische oorsprong en betekent zoiets als "eenzaam".
