BASIC
BASIC ( shkurtesë nga anglishtja: Beginner's All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code', lexo: Biginërs Oll-përpoz Simbëllik Instrakshën Kod, sq.: Kod udhëzimi me qëllim për fillestarët), është një gjuhë e programimi e nivelit të lartë, dhe u projektua në 1963, nga John George Kemeny dhe Thomas Eugene Kurtz në kolegjin Dartmouth, për ti dhënë mundësin e hyrjes në kompjuter dhe studenteve jo për shkenca.
Gjuha u përhap largësisht në mikrokopjutera në fund të viteve 1970 dhe në kompjuterat shtëpiak në 1980, ku më mbas u zhvillua në Dialekte të gjuhës programuese. Një prejardhës direkt i tij është Visual Basic.
