Colmars is een gemeente in het Franse departement Alpes-de-Haute-Provence in de regio Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur en maakt deel uit van het arrondissement Castellane. De gemeente telde 583 inwoners op 1 januari 2023.[1] Colmars is lid van Les Plus Beaux Villages de France.[2]
Geschiedenis
Colmars was de hoofdplaats van het kanton Allos-Colmars tot het op 22 maart 2015 werd opgeheven en de gemeente werd opgenomen in het kanton Castellane.
Geografie
De oppervlakte van Colmars bedraagt 81,82 vierkante kilometer. Op 1 januari 2023 was de bevolkingsdichtheid 7,1 inwoners per km².
Het dorp ligt in de vallei van de Verdon en lag voor 1860 op de grens tussen Frankrijk en Savoye. Getuige hiervan zijn de forten fort de France en fort de Savoie.
